Wheels, Tubes and Tires

Truing the wheels and mounting tubes and tires.

After getting the wheels spoke'd, it was time to try my hand at truing. With the help of a jig, a dry-erase marker and a decent light, I was able to get it pretty close (after taking care of the flat spot on the front rim, that is).

After snugging all of the spokes up, the tires that have been decorating my wall for the past couple of weeks finally found a home. I luckily have a decent set of tire irons and rim savers, which came in handy seeing how I wouldn't trust a tire shop in Bushwick to not rip a tube with their machine. A bit of soapy water and elbow grease later, we actually have something resembling normal.

Done and done. I should have the sprocket in the mail soon, and need to order new brake shoes to get the wheels completely done (and let's not forget the linkage). But, the front forks are torn down and getting a scrub, so should have a rolling chassis soon.

Rear swing arm with some shiny new brass bushings.
